A wonderful, powerful book about a true Black American Hero
February 23, 2019
Verified Purchase
Like the author, I walked the Little Big Horn battlefield one day. Having read many books about the Custer campaign and the battle, I of course knew about the end of Isaiah Dorman, Custer’s interpreter. And I had read a little of his history. But this book is a rich account of a wonderful man. A real American hero. A “black white man” as some natives called him, but also a member of the Sioux tribe. A businessman. A friend to any in need. Full of love and compassion, yet a man of great courage.

I love this book. It says so much about America: our strengths; our weaknesses; our past; our future. It is a love story in so many ways. It is the best story of the frontier spirit. It is tragic, just like so much of our American experience is, from the beginning, even to today. But it is noble and encouraging too.

Everyone should read this book. It does have a lot of formatting errors, but I forgive all of those—this is an authentic manuscript and no such document is without cosmetic faults.

The story is powerful. The man was a great man. Read this book and you will understand the best of our heritage, overcoming even the worst.

One last thing: the “Granny C” part of the story that links the Prologue to the Epilogue is so beautiful and ironic. It is heart-wrenching to go through life and not know a secret like the one Cindy (who became Granny C) kept for her Mom and Isaiah all those years. A secret that affected/shaped so many people, yet they never knew! This aspect of the story, just by itself, is truly amazing!

So. You might think, I think, I know anything. Well, I don’t. I just share with others. And what I bring up is just something else to consider. It’s up to YOU to consider if it makes sense, devoid of irrationality, superstition, and mysticism, and, if it does, then put it to use. Bottom line: YOU must take personal responsibility for everything in your life. Now let’s get started.

Some people are so mind-controlled that they don’t even think mind control exists, and if they think it exists, they do not think it pertains to them. Well, IT DOES EXIST, and it does pertain to us all, whether you believe it or not.

That’s one type of mind control, right there. Many people think just because they do not believe something, it doesn’t exist, and many think just because they DO believe something that it DOES exist, and those are not truths. Many people believe in things that are not true and many people don’t believe in true things. My question is WHY?

Restated: That is a kind of mind control in and of itself, and the problem, is with society, and people make up society.
As a whole, society believes in mystical, irrational, and superstitious thought. As a result, they take action based on these false beliefs.
THAT’S WHY INDIVIDUALS AND YOUR SOCIETIES ARE THE WAY THEY ARE! Because the individuals in that society have been mind-controlled. Easily manipulated by neo-cheaters, and neo-cheating, manipulated by a `hive mind’ mentality, along with social and cultural programming.

Because the many’ believe something, does not make it true. The belief that something is true, that isn’t, is because they are mind-controlled by themselves and by their society or group. Why do people do this? To fit in? To be liked by everyone else? To be part of the status quo? Because they live in fear, and think there are strengthened numbers? Or they’ve been mind-controlled to believe in false theories likeoriginal sin’, Social Darwinism, and other myths, as a worldview.

Many people innocently respond, “My parents would never lie to me.” But the truth is, that they were mind-controlled also, and were also taught to believe, what it is that they were teaching you. Very big problem for the individual and society, because individuals and societies in the aggregate build a mindset based on those false beliefs and then take actions based on them, in their environment and that is where you see the manifestations of their madness. (*note: you will see the manifestations of the moral and positive effects of right thinking, speech, and action in your environment, also).

You need to start questioning where your beliefs came from, and if they’re true or not, how you came to believe them and start questioning yourself. Start by asking if what you’re thinking or saying is based on truth, ego, narcissism, self-importance, or some other mental malfunction.

That is how you will discover correct answers about yourself and the world around you.

These are major priorities in the self-discovery of the consciousness that you are. If you do not pursue this as a self-study your entire life, how can you be of any value to yourself or others? You can and will still, live your life with all its joys and obstacles, but your observation should always be at its core. Self-knowledge and the knowledge of the world around you. Your environment.

So, you want to be dysfunctional like everyone else just because that is the norm, and don’t want to be left out, or what? Restated: The problem is that many believe things that are NOT true, and refuse to accept the things that are.

Next time we’ll talk about how to discover truth, even with the limitations of not knowing all the facts, as best we can.

We need to do this for ourselves and then share it with others to help them dilute their irrationality, and with more rational and functioning information, everyone begins to figure out the truth: “That much of what we have been taught is a big lie.” That will be the beginning for us all to wake up as individuals, and that is what our societies will become. Reflections of ourselves. That is what our societies are now. Just a reflection of ourselves and our false beliefs.

We can change that. But only our actions will do that. Faith is ACTION! Action is faith. NOT blind belief! What do your actions show you? What do your actions show others? When your speech, thought, and actions are congruent, then things will work for you and everyone else. YES, your congruent speech, thoughts, and actions can and DO affect others!

Don’t fear being one of the functional, rational beings on this earth, even if it is not popular, because your only other option is to be like them. Which is NOT in your best interest or theirs. You can make a difference.

One collector asks,
“What is a Bitcoin?”
Our associate nonchalantly said, “It is a decentralized digital currency, that is the token used, to move and record information on the Blockchain, which is the public ledger that records all its transactions. It is a `virtual currency’.” She looked at me, and we both looked at him, thinking, “That certainly was a mouthful, bet you wouldn’t want to say that five times.” Then asks, “Do they exist, except in the Mario Brothers world of computers”? I said, “No, I don’t think so.”

She then asks, “So what value does it have?” I said, “It ONLY has the value that WE give it. Today, people value it at $350.00 per coin, I may not have any use for it, but will buy all you have for $150.00 per coin.” That’s the Value! Since our speaker is to give a keynote presentation on U.S. Commemorative coins, classic and modern, we thought to quiet down to get started. So, I gave her these links to Introduction to Bitcoin, Bitcoin for Beginners, Bitcoin De-mystified, and What is Bitcoin.

These videos are a good start for understanding Bitcoin and blockchain technology. You can read about what is going on around the world concerning this technology and governments’ involvement and how it will impact banking and world currencies at the online news service of crypto-currencies, Coin Desk.
In the meantime, while we get articles and comments contributed to our blog, you can see the Tozan Coin QR Code which represents the numbers and letters below it, and those of you who have `Bitcoin wallets’ can scan this code or type/copy in the public key and send us a bitcoin donation.

A new subscriber asks, “Why Paper Money?”

Paper money collecting is a specialty in numismatics. It not only consists of currencies, but also entails a variety of notes, which many may not think of collecting, or think of as currency. For instance, checks, both canceled and uncancelled, by private banks and local, city, state, and federal. Notes that never circulated, but are nevertheless collectible, and available somewhere, like $10,000.00 notes. $500.00 and $1,000.00 notes at one time did circulate but are no longer used in circulation since around 1970.

If banks get them, they will accept them at par, but a collector will give you MORE than face value, so why would you want to cash them in at a bank? Paper money collecting can consist of bonds, stocks, railroad certificates, and certificates of deposits, similar to gold certificate currency and silver certificate currency. Your Certificate of Live Birth is a Bond. Bet you don’t have YOURS.

My understanding is it is controlled by the IMF traded on the Stock Exchange and is worth millions. The question is: How do you get it returned to YOU? Its rightful recipient. But that’s another story for later. There exist bank notes of states only, not issued by the federal government. Colonial notes of the 1700’s. Confederate notes. Notes signed by specific officials of the banks or governments. Hand-signed notes.
Notes collected by serial number or federal reserve districts, etc. The collecting issues can be as varied as coin collecting. Some collectors collect by country only, specific denominations only, large-size notes, small-size notes, notes with a particular artwork, and commemorative issues. Variety and error notes (notes with printing errors on them, like two different denominations imprinted).

Disney Dollars are very collectible, and some world notes are made of new material called Polymer Notes with many new security features. If paper money collecting interests, there are specialty clubs just for paper. Even though there will be many paper money collectors in your local coin clubs. There is a magazine calledBank Note Reporter’ which paper money enthusiasts subscribe to, and an international organization called IBNS. The International Bank Note Society.

A noted collector learns about grading, counterfeit detection, and alteration and joins clubs to get around other enthusiasts to learn more about their mutual interests. You can go to coin clubs and coin shows to buy, sell trade, and expand your knowledge and skills. Download the PDF-“An Introduction to Van Court’s Bank Note Reporter and Counterfeit Detection”. Start your adventure. You will only learn. Happy hunting. Contributed by Judy K. Santa Monica, CA.

5 Tips for Collecting Coins

  1. You are collecting because you like it.
You may be interested in history, art, metallurgy, economics, or types of money people use as units for an exchange of value. You can collect based on the subject. You may like coins related to animals, flags, or a specific subject matter.
You may collect by country of origin. From a specific era. Coins of the BC era or early AD. Colonial coins of the U.S. or Canada. You may collect European, Australian, or Mexican coins or South American issues. Collect according to ruling governments. There are myriads of collecting subjects and specialties you can pursue. You may collect only coins found in circulation.

Oddities and errors and varieties that strike your fancy. Whatever your endeavor it is because you like them, and it interests you. You may collect square coins or coins with holes in them. You may collect by type and year or mintmark. You can collect transportation tokens, tax tokens, bank tokens, and privately minted medals. As you can see the subject range is enormous and you are doing it because you like it and learn from it. Whatever piques your imagination.

  1. So, how do you find coins, other than your own country and in circulation, other than traveling? Join a coin club in your area. So, how do you find a club? They don’t advertise, and your local coin shop is not going to tell you about them. Go to the American Numismatic Association (ANA) website, click on ANA Clubs, then click on your state. A list of all the ANA clubs in that state will appear and you find one nearest where you can attend. Some are free, some have dues which may be a whole $10 per year. Most meet once a month.
  2. Attend Coin Shows. At the coin clubs, you will not only learn about coins & and currency, but you will also find out about your local and national coin shows. There is often one show every week in the US, all year long. At the clubs and shows, you can buy, sell, and trade and get free appraisals and invaluable information about what your interests are. Clubs and shows have speakers which may cover any subject relevant to numismatics.

Such as grading, (Download the FREE Grading PDF in the shopping cart at Tozan.com), counterfeit detection, and how coins and currency are manufactured and printed. Speakers can range from numismatic specialists to speakers from the US Mint, or the secret service.

Speakers give presentations on the history and background of the coins and mint engravers, even speakers talk about the much controversial cryptocurrencies, like Bitcoin and Blockchain technology. Ask anything you want to know about numismatics and there is someone who knows, or someone who knows who knows!

  1. Subscribe to Coin Magazines or online publications. Some online publications are free. You can get complimentary magazines at clubs and shows. Get books on the subjects that are your interest. There is Coin World, Numismatic News, The Numismatist, Bank Note Reporter, and World Coin News. All US publications. There is Canadian Coin News, Coin News Magazine in the U.K., and The Austral-Asian Coin & Banknote magazine in Australia.
  2. Collecting vs. Investing. As your interest grows. Know the difference between collecting and investing and look within yourself to know your objectives. Fun is good, collecting is fun, but know yourself that, you do not want your fun and collecting to cost you more than you thought. Read books, speak to people, look at a lot of coins. Gain knowledge and understanding, and with action, turn that into wisdom (The Trivium) and share your knowledge and interest with others. Article by Lou C. -Highlands Ranch, CO.

One reader asks:
Can I Buy Coins Straight From The Mint?

Yes. You can purchase coins directly from the US Mint. Many folks do not know that you can order your coins directly from the US Mint. Now, there are a few caveats.

  1. On certain items there is a limit to the amount of a specific item you can purchase.
  2. You can only order coins and sets specific to the present year. For instance. This year is 2015. Therefore, you can only order 2015 Proof American Eagles, or2015 American Gold Buffalos, or 2015 mint sets or proof sets.

You cannot order a 1967 Special Mint Set or a 1997 Prestige Set. If you want those or anything existing outside of the present year, you will get it on the secondary market, not from the mint.

  1. Some items, like a 2015 monster box of American Silver Eagles from the San Francisco branch mint or West Point branch mint (500 coins) you cannot get directly from the mint, as those are only sold to certain major distributors of the mint, so you will have to order that monster box from one of the mint distributors or the distributor’s dealers.

But, in some instances, you can order hundreds or even thousands of certain items directly from the mint, should they have them available. You can get on the mailing list of the US Mint, and they will send you updates on their new products and surplus items available for order. You can do that on their website www.usmint.gov and even place your orders directly from their site if you choose not to do it by mail. by Tom I.-Sheridan, WY.
